Supression in action

MP Ron Marks wants to bring in a new law to provide new harsher penalties for those who attack the Police. The article is here.

"Society can't have it both ways. We can't demand that the police protect us and then turn a blind eye when thugs and drunken louts attack the police," he said.

What about the thugs and drunken louts that attack those of us that arent Police?

I thought we were supposed to be the same - Cops and Citizens alike - how about we have one law for all. Oh - wait a minute we already do - don't we?

We all deserve to be treated the same way - we don't need a class structure just yet thanks.

On our recent visit places South I spotted in Cromwell a youth wearing a T-Shirt emblazened with the slogan - "Fuck the police". I'm not so sure that he should be treated the same way as the rest of us and he obviously would not be requiring any assistance from the police should the need arise eg if I was to beat the crap out of him. Should he happen to become deceased eg due to a car accident, I guess he would not require the police to inform his poor parents either!

Totally agree with you on this. Perhaps this youth might like to get his personal safety looked after by another security provider - Black Power/ Mongrel Mob spring to mind. He could simply pay them to look after him for a nominal fee - I believe it's called "insurance" :)

Maybe he was just giving expression to his amourous desires..
Could this be a call for the transfer of revenue gathering by the government from police on the roads to police in the brothels???

Perhaps they were a fan of N.W.A and their song - Fuck tha Police?

Hmmm
Tyler wins the "Best Comment" award for January.
I still think that someone who has been attacked, through no reason of his own, should be afforded the same protection of the law as afforded to the Police. If the law isnt hard enough on people who attack members of the Police then it isnt hard enough for the general public either.
OK - the general public isnt on the front line every day, putting themselves in danger - but there should be a decent disinstentive for people to attack others in an unprovoked situation.

Leave the liquor cabinet unlocked and IG gets his hands on the whiskey – then you’ll know about unprovoked attacks. He’s not even a pure blood Scots!
