Fireworks ban in the air

I read in the online NZ Herald that David Benson Pope is looking into banning fireworks if there is a big enough public outcry.

Personally I'd make the fireworks even bigger and more destructive to teach the small (but growing) number of idiots who missuse them a lesson.

But maybe the government knows what's best for us - after all we must be protected from harm at all costs.

After reflecting a while, I'll admit we are probably giving 14 year olds too much responsibility. Perhaps we should simply ban fireworks to anyone under the age of 30 and see if injuries drop. Another alternative is to instruct the police to fine at least three people an hour for misusing fireworks under a quota system (giving motorists a nice break in the meantime) - or God forbid only allow sales on the 5th of November!
