Blue Day

I love this song.

Many people say a bands first album is their best. I wonder if it's because they put so much energy into what they're trying to say - never sure they'll get another chance. Although there's a certain purity in a first album, later on when a band becomes more comfortable with itself, a few gems remain. Sometimes a single song from a later album can eclipse a lifetime of previous works.

I'd like to think it's a metaphor for life as well - that every day is a chance to eclipse a monumental time in our past. Another chance to redefine ourselves - not for those who watch on from the outside, but for those lost dreams that wait from within.

Sifting through the thoughts that lead you on
Find the door that's open, now you're gone
We softly say to our-ourselves
If we could be anybody else

The letter

Work - bah humbug :)

So we talked of our stories
Till the sun and the waves
Returned to...
We made plans for the next year
You were on my mind
All of the time

Gin Wigmore - These Roses

I'll sing you a sweet song if you say to
I'll write you the saddest of all words, rhymes and phrases
I will be your everything and I'll try give you anything back but I

Cannot give you my love
No I cannot give you my love

When I got fight in these roses
I still can't be scared
I got stones in my pockets
I still can be shared
I keep you in my heart
To make this all harder
I will stay addicted to you
I will stay addicted to you

Take me down to the garden
Let me lay with you
Hold my hand
Don't let go
If you feel like kissing me
Do
Now there's butterflies in me baby
And I just don't know what to do
You could stand up straight
You could be the best of my dates
But I still would not see you for I

Cannot give you my love
No I cannot give you my love

When I got fight in these roses
I still can't be scared
I got stones in my pockets
I still can be shared
I keep you in my heart
To make this all harder
I will stay addicted to you
I will stay addicted

I'm a stones throw from heartache
Hear me crumbling, tumbling down
Is it too late
To lose faith
In everything working out right
We can say forget
Or forgive
But I cannot do that to love

But I'm still young on the inside!

I'm constantly having to remind myself I've grown up.

Today I had to wear formal attire to work for a high profile meeting. I looked about the room and felt so out of place; at least until I realised that so many people were looking to me for some answers.

I cant say too much yet, but huge things are afoot - at least a half a billion of them. All this while the tall poppy eradicator ambles ever so purposely in my direction.

We Kiwi's are our own worst nightmares - we need to accept it's OK to step up, and take charge when we need to - it's doesn't always mean we're full of ourselves....

Affirmations don't always do the trick 'tho - that inner monologue takes a lot of sating...

Language

My Hands Are Tied
Oh I Could Be A Victim
When My Tongue Won't Move
You Have Tied With Your Heartstrings
When I Needed You Most
I Couldn't Find The Language
When I Needed You More
I Couldn't Say A Word

Dave Dobbyn may be an acquired taste, but the guy's a genius in my book.

Life in New Zealand

Ducks crossing Palmerston road cause accident

4:40PM Wednesday Nov 26, 2008

A mallard duck that led her ducklings into the path of an oncoming car is thought to have been the cause of a two-car smash in Palmerston North.

The ducks crossed Centennial Drive about 9.15am yesterday, causing a car to swerve into an oncoming Honda Odyssey van, the Manawatu Standard reported.

The impact rolled the van and sent it spinning sideways down the road, with the male driver escaping out of the driver's side window.

Both drivers were unhurt. The duck is also believed to have been unscathed.

Brooke Fraser.

Just a reminder of how beautiful music can really be... and it doesn't have to be about God.

Walking,stumbling on these shadowfeet
toward home,a land that i've never seen
I am changing: less and less asleep
made of different stuff than when i began
and i have sensed it all along
fast approaching is the day.

In a heavier vein

Shihad perform "One will hear the other"

Like most Kiwi rock, the lyrics will require translation - it's all in the accent apparently. :)
Warning - heavy-ish rock. Not to be taken on an empty stomach.

Time has a way of casting doubt
Life is a cage they let you out
So fly while you can...

So little time don't let it go to waste
Hold your ground don't throw it all away
And take a chance now

Conchords

This is why us kiwi guys score heaps eh bro.

We have such a choice way with words, it hurts sometimes. Plus it's not really fair on the Aussies eh. Awesome!

Brooke Fraser - C.S Lewis song

Incomplete but a taste of a lovely song. Enjoy :)

If I find in myself desires nothing in this world can satisfy,
I can only conclude that I was not made for here
If the flesh that i fight is at best only light and momentary,
Then of course I'll feel nude when to where I'm destined I'm compared

Mosgiel Intermediate Pool

I cant believe I actually did this all those years ago.
Now kids are tied up in cotton wool by parents who enjoyed a freedom they in turn deny their own kin.
That and lead paint. Tasty, tasty lead paint. :)

What the kiddies are listening to

Makes a pleasant change from Justin Timberlake.

Some Kiwi music to rock the weekend out with. Enjoy :)

Atlas - Is this real?

This track is pretty good too - if you're interested in hearing more from this band.

Anika Moa

I'm searching for something here. I cant put it down on paper. The words; out of reach, out of focus.
I'm surfing youtube.com for music, something to help put whatever is "out there" down on paper. So far - not so good.

I feel the need to listen to Anchor Me, and Youthful. Perhaps it's a kiwi vibe I need today?

I think it's time I dragged a stick through the sand....

New Zealand Music Month

Phlex by Blindspott.

When you want to rest your head
On a shoulder that
You know wont turn on you
We’re all here till the end
With you my friend
There’s no reason to go...

Not one day that you are here
has been promised to you
So make the most of everyday
as if it was your last
And every breath
as if it was the same
